Erica Chard

Head Trainer/Owner

Erica has been a competitive athlete her whole life, starting at the age of four with soccer, dance, and gymnastics. She later took up swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball and softball as well. Most recently, Erica raced bikes for a women’s domestic pro team until she retired from racing in 2013. Shortly thereafter, Erica began CrossFit as a means to challenge herself and to improve her overall fitness. She immediately fell in love with the sport and hasn’t looked back.

Prior to coaching CrossFit, Erica taught a variety of group fitness classes and loved that they allowed her to coach and motivate people to improve their health through physical activity. Once she found CrossFit, she naturally wanted to continue that work by helping people grow in this incredible sport.

In addition to owning CrossFit Raeford, Erica also owns a health coaching practice called Whole You Health Coaching and is the owner and head chef at the specialty foods company Fit Grub Foods.

Erik Noonan

Trainer

Erik has been involved in sports for as long as he can remember. In his youth, he participated in pop-warner football, folkstyle and freestyle wrestling, and BMX racing. In high school, Erik continued to play sports, participating in both football and wrestling. In 1998, after graduating high school, Erik traded his cleats for combat boots and joined the Army where he still serves as an Active Duty Sergeant Major.

After 17 years in the Army, Erik’s love for athletic adventures has not waned. He participates in trail races, obstacle course races, and has been an avid CrossFitter for the past two and a half years, competing in multiple competitions.  It is his drive to push himself and others to be their best that brought Erik into the coaching world. With the goal of becoming a coach and sharing his experiences with athletes, Erik completed the CrossFit Level One Trainer certification in 2015.

Erik utilizes his love for athletic competition and years of military experience to bond with and relate to all athletes, whether they are dropping in to visit or are full-time members at CFR.

Keith Smith

Trainer

Keith has always been active and is a true competitor at heart. From an early age, he was involved in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Today, Keith continues to challenge his competitive side by participating in CrossFit competitions held throughout North Carolina and the surrounding areas.  Keith also seeks to broaden and challenge his all-around athleticism by participating in Spartan Races and Tough Mudders that thoroughly test his functional and overall fitness.

With Keith’s athletic lifestyle, he thrives on pushing the limits of his strength and conditioning. Keith’s excellent physical conditioning has given him a great foundation for his career and has been integral to his success in the US Army.

Keith was first introduced to CrossFit in 2010, but did not join a gym until 2012 when he realized that working with a quality coach is the most important aspect of CrossFit.  Once in the gym, Keith was hooked and has since continued to improve his form, technique and conditioning through greater CrossFit experience, knowledge, and skills.

Keith finally combined his passion for CrossFit and his desire to develop others by becoming a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in 2015.  He now seeks to take his knowledge and skills learned through training and a variety of experiences and pass them on in order to inspire others to become who they want to be.

Keith constantly states that his only CrossFit regret is that it took so long for him to find the sport.

Angela Merritt

Trainer

Angela has always been drawn to physical activity and possesses a healthy competitive spirit. She has participated and competed in gymnastics, track, basketball and horseback riding. Because of her love and drive to be active and her natural ability to lead, she was recruited by her high school PE teacher to substitute classes in the teacher’s absence.

Years later, Angela quickly became bored with her gym routine and set out to find a new challenge, finally discovering CrossFit in 2009. It was love at first lift. Again, due to her love and genuine passion for the sport, Angela was recruited by her coaches to assist with and lead Mommy and Me classes, Intro Classes and membership recruiting when she wasn't competing.

Angela is always looking for a new challenge and enjoys pushing the envelope. She can often be found in class encouraging others to challenge and push themselves to meet their goals and achieve a greater level of fitness. Angela truly enjoys taking new members under her wing and helping them to soar on their own.

Angela is a mother of two. During both pregnancies, she continued to Crossfit and also competed in CrossFit competitions. In 2013, and several months pregnant, she placed 6th in the Spartan Mud Run. Her hobbies include lifting, competing, anything outdoors and spending time with her husband and children. Angela also received her birth doula certification in November 2014 from New Beginnings Doula Training.

Angela joined CFR in January 2016 and immediately fit right in. Today she can be found at the top of the athlete leaderboard when she isn't coaching.

 Jennifer Loredo

Trainer

From a very young age, Jennifer was a sports lover and competitor at heart.  As a child, she grew up climbing trees and playing kickball with the neighborhood kids and also played organized sports such as softball, track and basketball. Three weeks after graduating high school, Jennifer enlisted in the United States Army and her passion for fitness and friendly competition continued to grow. During her 21 years of active duty service, Jennifer’s love for teaching, coaching and motivating others, specifically in the fitness and nutrition arenas, became more of a passion than her job.

In 2010, Jennifer was introduced to CrossFit and hasn’t looked back since.  She found herself in love with everything about the sport, from the daily challenge of each workout to the supportive community of people.  In 2014, Jennifer decided to combine her love for CrossFit with her passion for teaching and helping others and became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.  She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with other CrossFit athletes and is constantly learning and growing as both a coach and an athlete herself.

Jennifer is the proud mother of two children, Alexis and Eddie.  She believes that family fitness is the foundation to teaching children the importance of exercise and how fun fitness can be.

Kirstin Aubele

Trainer

Kirstin has always enjoyed physical activities, having played soccer and softball most of her life prior to college.  She has always been highly competitive. In college, she participated in ROTC, and when she switched to Army ROTC she really began to focus on her fitness.  Upon arriving to Ft. Hood in 2010, a few friends talked her into going to a CrossFit class and she quickly fell in love with the combination of weightlifting and cardio, along with the opportunity to compete with herself.

When the base hosted a CF Level 1 certification 6 months later, Kirstin was able to secure a spot. Initially, it was just to improve her own capability and knowledge, but she quickly realized she loved coaching. She interned at the base box, CF Centurion, following her certification and eventually coached there. She has coached friends, as well as soldiers at her units, but due to military requirements was unable to get back into coaching until early 2017.  She has completed several competitions and just loves the community and sense of family that comes with CrossFit.

Kirstin strongly believes she can learn just as much from being the coach, as she can from being coached.

LeAnna Nelson

Trainer

LeAnna was introduced to sports at an early age.  That introduction fueled her competiveness since she was a child.  She focused on fast pitch softball and swimming in high school.  After high school, she continued her softball career into college, as well as with the Puerto Rican Olympic National team.

LeAnna’s love for athletics and passion to help others reach their goals led her to coach softball, baseball, soccer and gymnastics for both adults and children.  Her love for the outdoors and staying physically fit inspires her to participate in mud runs, 5ks, 10ks, and marathons.  She has also directed multiple 5k races.

After 10 years of racing, LeAnna decided it was time to try something new. In the fall of 2015, LeAnna was introduced to CrossFit and decided to take a break from her running shoes and lace up some lifters. Due to her love of CrossFit and the pure joy she receives from helping others reach their true potential, she decided to become a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. She is always excited to help others in their CrossFit journey and pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.

LeAnna is a military spouse and mother of 4 very active kids and uses her fitness and nutrition knowledge to teach her children how to live a healthy lifestyle and participate in sports as respectable, fun-loving athletes.

Tara Kinney is a proud military wife to her husband, Rob, and the mommy of their 2 girls, Ashley and Addison, and new baby Austin. In addition to CrossFit, Tara has been coaching Bootcamp, Spinning, Pilates, and Athletic Mobility since 2013.  In addition to fitness, she is an Organization Development consultant with a passion for supporting organizations with Leadership Development, Training & Facilitation, Corporate Wellness and Instructional Design.

Throughout childhood and well into college she was far above a healthy weight and was not taking care of herself physically, mentally, or spiritually. Tara started her wellness journey 12 years ago and slowly but surely took those incremental steps to a healthier version of herself. Through affirming and motivating mentors as well as physical and spiritual fellowship; she finally made her last strides in 2012 in reaching 100 POUNDS LOST!

Like everyone, Tara has had many hiccups along the way, but she has experienced staying the course and uses this experience to relate to and help others through similar struggles in order to achieve fitness milestones and push to achieve lasting health goals. Tara considers it a blessing to have the opportunity to partner with others through their personal journeys and considers herself extremely fortunate to be a part of a community supporting fit  healthy lives.

IMG_5681.jpg

From an early age, Danielle was fond of being outdoors and staying physically active.  She played various sports in school, but her true passion was ballet, which ultimately led to international travel with a ballet company.  Having grown up in a military family, though, with a sense of duty to serve, she joined the U.S. Army shortly after High School.

As a medic in the Army, it was important for Danielle to maintain a high level of physical conditioning.  After being medically discharged, recovery from spinal surgery posed many hurdles in maintaining daily activities. Struggling with how to overcome her physical limitations and trying many programs, it wasn’t until she was introduced to CrossFit that she truly started feeling well again.  While there are still struggles, Danielle continues to use CrossFit improve her quality of life.

Having been a part of the CFR family while finishing her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, when the gym had a need to expand its staff, she applied to help with gym management and was selected for the role over 100 other candidates.  Meanwhile, she continues to further her CrossFit training and education by attending various courses and seminars and shadowing and assisting our trainers during classes.

As a mother of three, it is important to Danielle to be a strong role model for her children, as well as the community.  She wants to show people that despite life’s complications, with the right mindset, support and training, growth is always possible.
